NFL: Week 3 Studs
For the second week in a row Eli Manning finds him on the stud list. With no Ahmad Bradshaw, Hakeem Nicks and Domenik Hixon, Eli was still able to lead his team to a 36-7 victory over the Carolina Panthers. He completed 77 percent of his passes for 288 yards and a touchdown. Even more important, is the fact the NFC East is for grabs as each team is in first place standing at 2-1.
Torrey Smith learned Sunday morning that his younger brother died in a motorcycle accident. Smith could have easily left his teammates and decide not to play against the Patriots. However, he decided to play and turned in a great and heartwarming performance. Six catches for 127 yards and two touchdowns. Bravo Torrey Smith, I tip my hat off to you.
I don’t know if Jamaal Charles is returning to his old self or if the Saints are just that bad. Still, Charles had himself a monster game, which should boost his confidence. After struggling the first two weeks of the season, week three for Charles was a good one. On 33 carries Charles ran for 233 yards and a touchdown. Charles also had six catches for 55 yards. A monster day indeed.
Christian Ponder and the Minnesota Vikings so far are under the radar. This past week they defeated everyone’s favorite for the Superbowl in the San Francisco 49ers. Ponder put up 198 yards and two touchdowns. He even ran for a touchdown. In three games Ponder has yet to throw an interception, which is all you can ask for in a young quarterback.
All botched calls aside; the Seahawks defense was able to sack Aaron Rodgers eight times. Four came from Chris Clemons alone. The offensive line had to resort to plenty of holding that was not called, but this front four for Seattle came to play and helped get a win for their team (with a little help from the refs of course).
