NFL: Week 10 Studs
A few weeks ago, I called out Calvin Johnson for his performance halfway through the season. In week ten, Megatron put up huge numbers in a loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Johnson had 12 catches for 207 yards and a touchdown. He has 60 receptions for the year, but only two touchdowns. While he still needs to produce more (so does the team), it was a solid game for him. Still has seven weeks to get back to Megatron form.
Honestly, tight ends never get much love in the NFL. One example is Greg Olsen. The former Miami Hurricane has underachieved since he was drafted. Currently playing with the Carolina Panthers, he has had a decent year which included his most impressive game this season. In a loss to the Denver Broncos, he had ten catches for 102 yards and two touchdowns.
It was a shoot-out this past Sunday in New Orleans and while Drew Brees and the Saints got the better of the Falcons, Matt Ryan had a spectacular game. He threw for three touchdowns and 411 yards. Only critique (which I will talk about in the next “dud list”) was the Falcons play-calling on the Saints’ one yard line. Still, a terrific day from Matty Ice.
New Orleans Saints
It was a huge statement win from the New Orleans Saints as they were able to pull out a great victory against the previously undefeated Atlanta Falcons. More importantly they came up with the big stop when they needed to. Currently, they are standing at 4-5. With the Falcons and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers both fighting for playoff spots, if the Saints can string some more wins together they can actually be in the playoffs. Things are starting to head in the right direction for “Who Dat” nation.
Ravens have plenty of injuries on the defensive side of the ball, but it didn’t matter as they trounced the Oakland Raiders. Flacco threw for 341 and three touchdowns, while even Sam Koch the Ravens punter was able to rush for a seven yard touchdown. This 55-20 win for the Ravens is just what they needed.
