NFL: Week 12 Studs

Janoris Jenkins

Janoris Jenkins has been hot and cold this year for the St. Louis Rams, but the rookie from North Alabama was hot this week. Against the Arizona Cardinals, Jenkins had two interceptions returned for a touchdown in a 31-17 win over the NFC West rivals. Jenkins has the potential to be a lock-down corner in two to three years. Consistency is the key, but if he plays like he did in week 12, no doubt he will be one of the best at the corner position.

Julio Jones

In one of the most exciting games from week 12, wide receiver Julio Jones had himself a game. The former Alabama standout helped his team out by catching six balls for 147 yards, including an 80 yard touchdown that set momentum for his team at the start of the second half. The Falcons cool down the red-hot Tampa Bay Buccaneers and now hold a larger lead in the NFC South.

T.Y. Hilton

He may have only had three catches, but one was for a touchdown. Hilton also had a 76 yard punt return for a touchdown as well. Two touchdowns and a victory over the Buffalo Bills is the reason why T.Y. Hilton is a stud for this week. Watch-out folks, Hilton and Luck have been working well together. I’m not saying they are the next Manning/Harrison combo, but as these two grow together they can be a lethal connection in Indy.

Cam Newton

Like the rest of the media, I’ve been pretty hard on Cam Newton. In front of America on Monday night, Cam played huge. He threw for 306 yards and two passing touchdowns. He would also add two rushing touchdowns. Granted it was against the free-falling Philadelphia Eagles, but still a confident boost for young Cam. Maybe the fans and media will start to get behind him, if not for his play at least for this hilarious commercial.

Cleveland Browns Defense

I truly blame the Steelers and Charlie Batch more than I give credit to the Cleveland Browns’ defense, but still forcing eight turnovers is pretty impressive, no matter who you are going against. Each of the Steelers’ running backs fumbled once (four active running backs) and Batch was intercepted three times and another Steeler fumbled. The Browns almost lost, but were able to hold on 20-14. Knowing the Browns, they were lucky to win a game in which they had a plus seven turnover rating.
