NFL: Week 14 Studs
You know, I always thought it was interesting that the Redskins drafted Kirk Cousins a few rounds after RG III. I always wondered why. I didn’t think Cousins would be the back-up, but he is and he came up huge against the Baltimore Ravens. Not only did he lead them down the field on the game tying drive, but also the game winning drive as well in overtime. RG III is expected to start, but from what I’ve seen from Cousins, I think Washington should consider resting RG III.
I’ve been hard on Cam Newton, but he shined against the Atlanta Falcons who only lost one game prior to this one. He threw for 287 and two touchdowns while adding 116 on the ground and a touchdown. Last four games Cam has thrown no interceptions. He’s turning it on, just at the wrong time in the season. Watch out for the Panthers in the future.
Before their win against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the San Diego Chargers lost seven of their last eight, which included a four game losing streak. However, Phillip Rivers changed that. The 31-year-old gunslinger threw for 200 yards and three scores, spoiling the Steelers hopes of moving up in the AFC North standings, and Big Ben’s return.
The rookie was originally in Tom Coughlin’s doghouse since he fumbled in week 1. I bet he got back into the good graces of his head coach this week. Wilson had 327 total yards and three touchdowns (two rushing /one kick return). A record-setting day for Wilson. The Giants may need more of Wilson with Ahmad Bradshaw possibly out of Sunday’s game verse the Atlanta Falcons.
All four teams won. One of the tightest playoff races in the NFL. Should be fun to watch in late December and January with three weeks left in the season.
